Reading Challenge: The Testaments
I have to be honest, I’m incredibly wary every time a sequel from a book that has been turned into a film or T.V series comes out. I always feel as if the authors, being human and enjoying the success of their adaptations continue the story simply because of popularity, hence the stories are mediocre at best.
I’m glad Margaret Atwood proved me wrong and as usual delivered an amazingly though story that made me kept reading until my eyes couldn’t take it anymore. The Testaments is a beautiful story that continues narrating the lives of Gilead as previously seen on The Handmaid’s Tale.
This is a story I hold dear to my heart, having read it several times in different stages of my life I wish it could be longer. Dystopian books are a funny genre to me, showcasing distant futures that our mistakes might lead to but that they reflect so much in today’s society.
My opinion may be completely biased as I am the biggest fan of Margaret Atwood, and I have yet to read a book of hers I do no like, but The Testaments, just like The Handmaid’s Tale is a masterpiece that every person should have in their bucket list.
